Water Tank & Sump Waterproofing in Hyderabad

A cracked or leaking water tank doesn’t just waste water — it can damage the structure around it and, if it’s a drinking water sump, become a contamination risk. Because tanks and sumps hold potable water, the waterproofing system used inside them has to be certified safe for drinking water contact, not just water-resistant. We use non-toxic crystalline coatings specifically rated for this use.

Materials Used

Potable water-safe crystalline coatings — Dr. Fixit Dampguard, Fosroc Brushbond

Common Causes We See in Hyderabad

  • Shrinkage cracks in the RCC tank walls or floor, common in tanks built without expansion joints
  • Corrosion or degradation of the original waterproofing coat after years of water contact
  • Poorly sealed joints where pipes enter or exit the tank
  • Hydrostatic pressure from surrounding soil pushing water into underground sumps
  • Hairline cracks that only become visible once the tank is full and under pressure

Our Process

  1. 1 Tank draining and surface cleaning
  2. 2 Crack repair with hydraulic cement
  3. 3 Application of non-toxic crystalline waterproofing coat (2 coats)
  4. 4 Curing and water retention test before use
  5. 5 Final inspection and handover

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the coating safe for drinking water tanks?

Yes, we use crystalline waterproofing compounds specifically certified as non-toxic and safe for potable water contact — this is different from the coatings used on terraces or walls.

How long is the tank out of use during treatment?

Expect the tank to be out of service for 3–5 days: draining, surface prep, two coats with curing time between them, and a water retention test before refilling.

Can you treat underground sumps the same way?

Yes, though underground sumps also face hydrostatic pressure from groundwater, so we assess whether additional injection grouting is needed at pressure points before applying the coating.

How do I know if my tank actually needs waterproofing?

Visible damp patches on the outside of the tank wall, a consistently dropping water level with no obvious usage, or visible cracks when the tank is empty are all signs it’s time for an inspection.
